voc rehab

The meeting with Pat, my voc rehab counselor, was really great. My low vision assessment, which is how i start at center for visually impaired, is oct 21 at 8am. Not only am i going to learn tto read braille but i have going to take an activities of daily living class where they teach you to cook on the stove without hurting yourself or burning the food, learning to ride marta as a blind person and not get lost, how to plan routes and use the cane, womens support group, and they are going to give me a vocational skills aptitude test where afterwards my voc rehab counselor is going to help me find a job on ticket to work. ticket to work is a program through social security where they allow you to work part time and make a certain amount and still keep your disability benefits. I am going to get to go to center for visually impaired everyday monday through friday for classes from 820am to 4pm because vocation rehab is going to pay for my marta mobility to take me everyday! also, after the low vision assessment if the doctor thinks i would benefit from some magnification software and computer software that reads to me vocation rehab will pay for that too. plus pat said when i take the adl class they will buy me protective mits that will keep me from getting burned.
